Next Workshop - Light Shade Workshop with Looping and Netting Techniques. Come and spend the morning making your own pendant light shade. Each participant will create a pendant light shade by weaving onto a supplied steel frame. The pendant shade is approx 300mm wide x 450mm high and will fit onto a standard lamp holder fitting. In this class you will be taught string and cord making techniques followed by looping and netting styled methods that will be applied to the creation of your light shade. Various materials including ready-made strings, fabric and plant fibres will be supplied for this class and you will be shown how to use them. Brooke will be demonstrating and teaching these skills and will be hands on when showing the differing netting styles.

You will be greeted with a warm cup and tempted with glorious treats during the day including a glass of wine (or two). I'll be teaching the art of Random Weaving, from baskets to sculptural forms. Open Core Coiling with Plant Fibres Spend the morning / afternoon learning an introduction to the art of basketry coiling with Mrs Munro. Open coiling is the action of stitching together a core material to create a form. Open Core basket making is ideal when you wish to ‘show off’ the core material. Some interesting core materials include grasses, palm fronds and/ or cord made from natural fibres. Brooke will be demonstrating varied techniques and will be hands on when teaching differing stitches and basketmaking styles. With a combination of soft materials including; foraged vegetation and hand dyed natural fibres each participant will create and play with the sculptural medium that is basketry. All materials are supplied and included.

Random Weave Basket Making or Random Weaving is the art of using differing fibres and found objects and weaving them with a structural technique to create an organic form. Brooke will be demonstrating varied techniques and will be hands on when teaching with differing fibres and shapes. Each participant will create a form made from natural and hand dyed rattan cane as well as natural fibres including foraged plantation. All materials are supplied and included.

Random Weave Basketry

Spend the morning/evening learning an introductory to the art of Random Weave Basket Making with Mrs Munro. Random Weave Basket Making or Random Weaving is the art of using differing fibres and found objects and weaving them with a structural technique to create an organic form.

Brooke will be demonstrating varied techniques and will be hands on when teaching with differing fibres and shapes. Each participant will create a form made from natural and hand dyed rattan cane as well as natural fibres including foraged plantation.

All materials are supplied and included.

Succulent Wreath Workshop Spend the day creating a beautiful living wreath that will have a place in your home long after Christmas. You will learn how to create the base from locally harvested vine and how to incorporate the succulents into it. All vine and succulent plants will be supplied to create your wreath on the day. This workshop is not only perfect for those with green thumbs but anyone creative at heart.

Attendees will be introduced to a variation of foraged plant fibres and found objects.  All materials are supplied and included however attendees are encouraged to bring articles or fibres that interest them or that they would like to further explore. This workshop would run for a min of 3hrs but would be more suited to an all day event. 

Sculptural Basketry with Plant Fibres and Found Objects

Spend the day learning an introduction to sculptural textiles using basketry techniques.

Brooke will be demonstrating varied techniques including Random Weaving, Twining, String bag techniques, Coiling techniques and more to construct sculptural forms. Attendees will be introduced to a variation of foraged plant fibres and found objects. 

All materials are supplied and included however attendees are encouraged to bring articles or fibres that interest them or that they would like to further explore.

This workshop would run for a min of 3hrs but would be more suited to an all day event.
